I’ve always been a little bit of a noob when it concerns tanning. I always look up to people that return from their holiday with a gorgeous summer tan. I, however, am still radiating white light at the end of summer – whoops. White girl problems I guess.. Simple, I just don’t get a tan quickly.
So when I got in contact with Captain Tan* I was ready to give fake tanning a shot!
I decided to try out the ST Tropez starter kit as I call it, I think you could also use it as a travel kit! 😉
Picture this; a girl who already gets streaks when using a moisturising cream with build up tanning, trying the real deal for the first time. Oh my god I was so nervous! But, it all worked out. I didn’t have any streaks the first try, however I did have a little bit of oompa loompa hands. So for the second time I was a little bit more careful on the hands and voila! A perfect tan!

The first step of my tanning process was exfoliating and getting my skin soft and smooth to begin with. No biggie this step is easy 😉
The second step is applying the tanning mouse. Scary shit! Luckily for me this kit is including a very handy tanning mitt! You can even do your own back. The tanning mitt is really a life saver, applying a fake tan should always been doen with a tanning mitt in my humble opinion.
Applying the tanning mouse is easy as 1,2,3.
The first time I tried 2 pumps per leg but I figure out around 3 is the best amount for me. For the arms I used 2 pumps and I also did my shoulders with the left overs. For my body, front and back I used 5 pumps in total, 3 for the front and 2 for the sides and my back.
After applying I Iet the tanning mouse absorb into my skin for +- 3 hours and washed it off afterwards. You can just put on clothes and do stuff during these 3 hours of course.
The result, from left to right:
1. After exfoliating, before applying
2. Right after I applied the tanning mouse
3. After 3 hours, washed of the product
I am pretty happy with the results, the undertone is a bit too orange-y for me but it’s okay and much less visible in real life than on this photo.
Tans can fade quickly… This fake tan lasts for about 1,5 weeks on my skin until it’s totally faded away. Maintain your tan by step 3 of the ST Tropez starters kit, moisturising. This products makes sure your tan fades in a natural and beautiful way.
So that is about it!
I am pretty happy about this product although I was a bit insecure when I first tried it out. By now I feel like I am a natural and will definitely continue using this product!
Have you tried a self tanning kit before? What was your experience? 🙂
Never tried self tanning. I am asian so tanning takes me 10 minutes on powerful sun haha! Gotta say I am lucky 🙂

I am Asian like AdventureFaktory so I haven’t really tried tanning product as well. Although I really love those golden brown skin especially from surfer girls hehe! I think it is so lush and sexy. Glad you found a product that works for you 🙂

This looks useful! I usually don’t tan at all. Even this summer, when I was constantly in the sun, I barely got any tan.
I’ve tried the tanning oil from them and find it so much easier to apply.
Product seems to be very good 🙂 I love the design. And no, I have never tried self tanning before, but I guess, it´s nothing for me, haha 🙂

It’s not really for me lol but looks like good products
