How to be Parisian review – Dutch version

Altijd een Parisienne, waar je ook bent. A couple of weeks ago I was supposed to be going to a book launch, the Dutch version of the how to be Parisian would be presented with the editors present. However unfortunately I did not feel well at all and had to cancel. Lucky me the sweet PR representatives send me the book afterwards so I could read the book and tell you all about it!

So here it is, my book review on How to be Parisian, the Dutch version!

I have always been really curious about the book so as soon as I received the book I picked it up and started reading! Altijd een Parisienne, waar je ook bent (How to be Parisian, wherever you are) is a guide about love, style and bad habits. But above all a view on the Parisian culture, fashion and behaviour. From tips, to columns, recipes and how to’s the book features a lot of different aspects on how to be, a Parisian.

The book starts with a clear index. The first chapter is about a good beginning, think about Parisian wisdom, life through the eyes of a Parisian, Parisian humor and my favorite: the purpose and importance of a signature item.

For me my signature item is my leather jacket. I only bought it about a year ago and every since me and my leather jacket are inseparable. The book says that your signature item is more than just a piece of clothing, it is an attitude and gives us confidence. Very trui in my eyes! 😉

The second chapter is about a lot of different things, from hosting a dinner party to workdays and the Parisian life in general.

The favourite part of my book is the third chapter! It is all about inner beauty. from the musthave fashion basics, to rules about showing skin (for example: how much cleavage is acceptable) and more.

Besides this the book talks about love, sex and relationships. Finally the book ends with a lot of tips and tricks for how to be a Parisian and it ends with must know French words and hotspots to visit.

All over the book you’ll find gorgeous photos and illustrations,  mostly made by the Parisian authors.

I am not at all done reading this book. It is a guide you will read whenever you want to know something about style, lifestyle and Paris. And a musthave book for if you are madly in love with Paris.

Mostly the book is a fun way to learn about the Parisian lifestyle and how to adopt it to your personal life. It’s a book that has to be taken with a grain of salt, but it for sure is one hell of an interesting book, covering a lot of knowledge about how to be Parisian, wherever you are…
