Travel Thursday – romantic getaway Ghent

travel thursday ghent belgium fashion blogger ibis accor hotels report

Ciao dearies,

Last weekend I was invited to stay a night in the lovely Ibis Centrum Opera hotel in Ghent. As I am quiet stressed out lately thanks to the job hunt this was a very welcome romantic getaway with my boyfriend. We planned our little weekend trip around Friday the 13th and Valentines day and well, a lucky and lovely weekend it was!

We started our trip to Ghent around 10 AM from our hometown Eindhoven to Ghent, via Antwerp. The first part of our journey was by bus and from Antwerp Central Station we continued by train. In Antwerp we already spotted some gorgeous architecture! I had never been in Antwerp before, still only saw the Central Station last weekend, but at least I have seen this gorgeous train station. The walls, floors, windows, everything looked like it was from a fairytale… And this was only one building of the many I came across during the whole weekend!!

Read on for the full weekend report and some more about my stay at the Ibis hotel in Ghent!

Baci,
Saranda

We checked in at the Ibis hotel around half past 12 or something and decided to first get settled in a bit. Our room was small but really comfy and the bed was soft, but not to soft, and a bit bouncy, loved it!

Than we decided which things we wanted to see or visit during our first day… Here are some shots we took this day, besides the OOTD I showed you on Tuesday!

As we were on the road so early it felt to us like we were already walking through the beautiful and magnificent city of Ghent while actually it was still only around 5 in the afternoon. We wanted our trip to stay low budget but we could not resist climbing up the Belfry belfort tower to see the view! I guess partially because this is something we sort of all most do in every city we visit that has a tower which you can visit ๐Ÿ™‚

Our climb turned out a little adventure as I always get a bit dizzy or something while walking up really steep and small stairs in a small corridor haha. BUT, the view was definitely worth it!!

In the evening we relaxed in the hotel and got treated to a very good dinner! We both had a lasagna, which was pretty good, and a desert!

These two girlscouts were given a task to go on a photo with me. Super fun, they were really kind! Oops, little sneak peak of my second OOTD shot in this fairytale city ๐Ÿ˜‰

Magical view from one of the many bridges in Ghent <3

I have so much more photos but I think these pictures will do… I want to thank Accor Hotels and Ibis Ghent for inviting me! The stay was wonderful and I had a great time last weekend. Perfect way to get my head clear and focused again, thank you so much!

If by any chance, after seeing this pictures, you fell in love with this city (I can tell you I did!!) consider staying in one of the two Ibis hotels in the city. I stayed at Ibis Ghent Centrum Opera and I really enjoyed my stay, also big thumbs up to everyone from their staff! You can book your stay at Ibis online! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you liked this blogpost, enjoy your day!
