“Travel is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer.” – A quote that I think is so true. I am so lucky to be able to see this much of the world and that is why I’ll take you with me on my exciting journeys! This time: Anguilla
After my stay in New York for three weeks I flew back to Amsterdam, to quickly unpack and wash everything, in order to have my whole suitcase ready that same evening. Yes, I flew straight back across the Atlantic!
That was a bit chaotic, but oh so worth it. Our first dream-like destination in the Caribbean: Anguilla, British West Indies. Though this small island doesn’t have a city center to offer, it makes up for everything with its 33 – yes: THIRTY THREE – beautiful beaches.
Read on to see some of these breathtaking beaches!
Mandalay Bay (first two photos) – View from our boutique hotel living room on Sandy Ground
We stayed in such a cute little boutique hotel called Ambia, but since we were the only guests we had the whole place, together with a kitchen, living room and swimming pool, for ourselves which was just perfect. Oh, and did I mention that view already? If that wasn’t enough already, the owners were so kind to tell us about all the musts to visit during our short stay.
The first day we went to Scilly Cay, to eat $5 lobster and have a stunning view over a rocky beach with a bright blue sea.. Afterwards we felt a bit tired of the traveling, so we decided to go to a simple beach called Shoal Bay. There they had a few cafes to eat at and spots to chill on the beach. That’s also where I shot the photo I showed you in the beginning of this post.
The next day we went to Mandalay Bay, a perfect small bay where there were just a few people. This bay had the whitest sand and the brightest blue sea I have ever seen – so far! I couldn’t believe it, the view was so unreal!! Since this was the first place we discovered that day, all the other places could not compete with that one – oops!
First row: Blanchards Beach Shack cafe view – Scilly Cay view – At the pool
Second: Cove Bay (best view!) – Choosing dishes at the cafe – Mandalay Bay
But that didn’t make visiting the other Anguilla beaches less fun. Because after that beach we went to Meads bay, where we had lunch at this cute and colorful cafe Blanchards Beach Shack.
Our third and last day was a travel day, so we decided to relax at the pool of our hotel, which was not bad at all with the view.. Why doesn’t Holland look like that? Haha!
Hopefully you enjoyed reading this post about my stay on Anguilla! I’ll be back next week, with a post about a tiny island South of France in the Caribbean.. Can you guess which island I’m talking about? 😉
Big kiss, Britt
